The Body of Jesus Christ Resurrected

July 25, 2018

But God raised him from the dead, Acts 13:30

With what body did Jesus Christ arise?  Jesus Christ answered that himself when he reassured his disciples.  Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have, Luke 24:39.  It is important to note that he did not say flesh and blood.  He said flesh and bone.  The Jehovah Witnesses do not believe that Jesus Christ arose with a body of flesh.  For a proof text they quote I Corinthians 15:50; Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

Like most people, they have been taught that no bible is perfect.  They then pick and chose verses throughout a bible of their own craftsmanship to prove what they had already decided was the truth.  They then piously hide behind those verses like Adam hiding behind a fig leaf.  We do have a perfect bible which is incapable of contradicting itself.  Jesus made it clear that he arose with a body of flesh and bone, not flesh and blood.

It was a body capable of eating and drinking.  For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come, Luke 22:18And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.  And he took it, and did eat before them, Luke 24:42-43.  We are told that we will have bodies like unto his glorious body; Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself, Philippians 3:21.  How else can we partake of the marriage supper of the lamb, but to have a body like his, holy, without sin, and yet capable of eating and drinking.

It is a body that is corporal like ours in that it has flesh and bone and is capable of eating, yet it can pass through walls.  Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you, John 20:19.  It is a body that can change form or appearance. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned, Jesus himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him, Luke 24:15, 16.

It is a body that still has the wounds of his death.  All too often people sing of the nail scarred hands.  They are not scarred, they are wounded. And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends, Zechariah 13:6Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing, John 20:27.

It is a body that is eternal and will never die again. I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death, Revelation 1:18.
