Dr. John M. Asquith

An Excellent Tool for Teaching

I have just had the honor of reviewing a new book by Dr. Bobby Adams called Why Can't I Understand My King James Bible? Dr. Bobby (as he likes to be called) has faced the frustration that so many pastors have faced, he has people who complain that that can't understand their bibles. In a well written 143 pages, Dr. Bobby carefully carries his readers through the many pitfalls that stop a lazy, or unwary, or carnal thinker from understanding the simple words of a King James Bible. He demonstrates clearly how getting a new version will not clear up the reader's understanding.

I come across many books on the King James Bible but rarely do I find new and well organized material that can systematically carry the reader past the hurdles that liberals are constantly throwing up against our dear old book. This one will help. Dr. Bobby wrote this for the troubled reader, but I think a better audience would be the man behind the pulpit. There is just so much help for him to answer the many questions that people have. The kind of person who balks at the King James Bible will probably not read it. The pastor who has such people should.

Nothing can transform a life that has already gotten along in years like introducing it, or reintroducing it to the King James Bible. We have a generation of preachers who have wrestled almost everyone they have ever met into praying the sinner's prayer, but find their respective ministries shrinking each year; and finding those who stay to be less and less faithful. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? Romans 10:14.

It just hasn't dawned on many of our brethren that faith is gone in the general public. We no longer have boy scout troops pledging to be reverent. We no longer have television shows like Lawrence Welk or Ed Sullivan who along with the latest dance tunes found it necessary to occasionally sing the hymns of Zion. We no longer have schools that inculcate a God fearing attitude into students. Instead we have a never ending stream of filthy dreamers in the school systems and the entertainment complex. Even the parents are numb to its effects. The first half century of the Warren Court's influence on public life is over and our country is beggared by it.

Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened, Romans 1:21. This country once knew God in a collective sense. They glorified him not as God and the collective heart of this nation has had the lights turned off. That is why a preacher can have hundreds and even thousands of people pray his little prayer with him, and never really see any converts. Even though his quarry may nod and affirm belief, there is no belief there. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?

No wonder zombies are so popular in our common culture. Baptist churches have been producing them for years. People whose hearts are dead to faith have had blind Baptist brethren try to pump the life changing, soul saving words of the living God into dead hearts utterly dull to the words of life. All that has been created are lifeless zombies stumbling about in sin, clutching in their dead faithless hands a worthless promise of heaven.

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God, Romans 10:17. It is our job to reintroduce the King James Bible to the public. This will not come through a mass advertising scheme. It will come the hard way as our forefathers did it; one person at a time, one family at a time. Each person will be different. Each family's circumstances will be different. It is your job to labor in love until the those people so blinded by the destruction of this country can have their eyes opened.

But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience, Luke 8:15. In this verse Jesus described the heart capable of receiving the words of life as a good heart. It has not been made good in the sense of salvation, it is good in the sense that it has been made ready to receive the words of God. Open your eyes dear friend. That is not the condition of the hearts of the vast majority of people in this country. The enemy has sown rocks and salt into our fields, and the anger and righteous judgment of God has darkened the heart of our culture.

You labor in the most wicked and blind generation of English speaking people since long before the age of Wycliffe. I bear witness that Dr. Bobby's book will help you to help others. I labor in the State of New York, a state that the devil blinded so long ago that he considers it his. One soul at a time, we reach into homes and introduce them to a heritage stolen from them in generations past. One soul at a time, we watch the poor who hate reading, love video games, and have had their hearts crushed with sin awaken to a higher life. We see the transformation of their very thought processes as they begin reading the words of this book. We see them made ready to tremble at the law they spurned.

I can bear witness that if you can partake of this work you will need help. Lo, this only have I found, that God hath made man upright; but they have sought out many inventions, Ecclesiastes 7:29. There have been many inventions to keep the people of this land from ever really understanding the words of God. God has poured grace into the heart and soul of Dr. Bobby Adams and given him answers to many of those inventions. You can order his book at The Old Paths Publications or Amazon. Please don't wait.
