Why Capitalize Grace?

To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, Romans 1:7.

An astute reader recently contacted me as to why the word "Grace" was capitalized in Romans 1:7. He wondered if it was because it followed a colon. Clearly, it was not starting a new sentence or verse.

As many of you probably already know, there is no rule that the word following a colon must be capitalized. Habakkuk 2:20 gives us an example; But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him. another example is Psalms 45:2; Thou art fairer than the children of men: grace is poured into thy lips: therefore God hath blessed thee for ever. Words are capitalized in your pure Cambridge Bible when they start a sentence, when they begin a verse, are a proper noun, or when they begin a quote.

Why then is "Grace" capitalized in Romans 1:7? It does not start a new sentence, it does not start a verse. It is not a proper noun. It is a quote. Who is it quoting? The verse tells you, God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. This is not some random blessing being thrown out by the Apostle Paul. It is a direct quote from God himself and from Jesus Christ.

If you are a believer on the Lord Jesus Christ you can know of a certainty that God the Father as well as our Lord Jesus Christ has reached out to you with a blessing that you should have grace and peace. The Apostle Paul was conversant with them and they, through him, passed on that blessing.

Trusting your bible to be perfect in punctuation as well as wording has its own blessings. To know if your bible is a perfect Cambridge Bible, visit www.bibleprotector.com. If your King James Bible is not perfect, get one that is. May I suggest www.churchbiblepublishers.com. If you order their Cameo, Turquoise, or Notetaker Editions, you will have a perfect King James Bible. Start trusting the jots and tittles.

I know that some of you have less than perfect King James Bibles and have been taught (by men) that there is no perfect bible on this earth. Perhaps your less than perfect bible has Romans 1:7 right. Do you want to always know if the puntuation can be trusted? Get a perfect bible.

Thank You. This is the kind of thing that makes me love my Bible even more, and I am thankful to our brother Paul passing on these words of encouragement, and our brother John bringing it to our attention.
